From 24 to 27 April 2026, the 24th Toruń Festival of Science and Arts took place in Toruń (Poland). Its main objective is to promote science and the arts among the local community and the wider region. The event brings together not only university staff, but also representatives of local enterprises and institutions, who present scientific and artistic achievements in an accessible and engaging way. During the festival, visitors have a unique opportunity to explore places that are usually not open to the public, such as research laboratories and creative workshops.

The PROMATAI project once again became part of the festival programme. Project participants from the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Polymer Materials actively contributed by delivering lectures and hands-on workshops for school students and the general public. The activities included lectures on “What are polymers?”, “Polymer recycling and biodegradable polymers”, as well as practical workshops on the production of polymer composites using extrusion and the investigation of their properties and structure.

Participation in the festival provided an excellent opportunity to promote the objectives of the PROMATAI project, increase public awareness of modern materials science, and inspire young people to pursue education and careers in scientific and technological fields.

The strong engagement of participants and high interest from attendees once again confirmed the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between science and society, as well as in effectively disseminating project results to a broad audience.
