In April–May 2026, the 12th secondment within the PROMATAI project was successfully carried out at the Lublin University of Technology (LUT), Poland. The host institution welcomed researchers and experts from four project beneficiaries: the Technical University of Košice (TUK, Slovakia, 4 participants), LPH a.s. (Slovakia, 3 participants), Cerca Trova Ltd. (CET, Bulgaria, 3 participants), and Dirmeta UAB (DIR, Lithuania, 3 participants).
The secondment began with a tour of LUT’s research laboratories, where participants became familiar with the university’s research infrastructure and experimental facilities. Throughout the visit, the secondees worked closely with LUT researchers on Task 3.1 – Rotating Barrel Section (RBS) Solution Study.
The research focused on analysing existing design solutions for the rotating barrel section of the innovative extruder and developing a pre-design concept of an RBS equipped with flights corresponding to the screw geometry. Different operating concepts, including rotation in the same and opposite direction to the screw, were evaluated to identify the most promising solution for further development.
As a result of the joint research activities, a pre-design concept of the Rotating Barrel Section (RBS) was successfully developed, providing the basis for the subsequent engineering design and optimisation stages of the innovative extruder. The secondment also strengthened scientific cooperation and facilitated valuable knowledge exchange among the participating institutions.
The successful completion of this secondment marks the full completion of Task 3.1
